Should we have a P5/G5 Split w/ Promotion & Relegation?

I say yes after first saying no in the beginning. I think since we have 10 conferences plus the 6 independents (last year) it could be done decently. The biggest problem is the $ that schools do not want to lose out on. Could this be fixed by having conferences pair together in revenue sharing? You would have the SEC w/ Sun Belt, the PAC w/ MWC, B1G w/MAC, ACC w/ revamped AAC, and Big12 w/ revamped CUSA. The independents being sorted out with ND w/ACC and etc. I think some CUSA & AAC swapping could be done for geographic fits. This would be for football only and there would be a G5 playoff as well. The bottom 2 P5s would be replaced with the top 2 G5s in each conference. I think it would make the Kansas & Rutgers improve as they would still be competing for something. The biggest need would be to have G5's still be televised. I'd still keep the G5 vs P5 games for that reason as well as rivalries. The biggest concern is not making the G5 into another FCS.

So you propose that the bigger schools give the smaller schools money just out of the goodness of their heart?
Good luck with that plan.

More like a cooperation/alliance thing. The schools receive a percentage of the revenue. They keep both conferences and basically combine the money from the football deals. Based on who is P5 and who is G5 determines how much each school/team receives. Thus incentive to make the football program more competitive.

I posted a thread with a similar idea to this. I think if the whole $$$ things could get sorted out it would be great for the CFB landscape. Teams may have history within their conferences but some of them are undeserving of the title “power 5” evidenced by teams like Vandy, Rutgers, Kansas. This would also give way to the teams like Boise St, UCF, Houston, and even App State a chance to see if they could hang with the big dawgs. The NFL, you have to win 3-4 games to win a championship. I don’t see why it should be any different in college if CFB is a stepping stone to the NFL.
For example, teams like ‘06-09 Boise, ‘17 UCF, ‘11 Houston, and before integration, ‘08 TCU and Utah, if those teams would have had shots to play multiple power teams throughout the year, would they have been able to hold up in a BCS/NY6 bowl? Well, a format like this would allow us to see if those caliber teams could make playoff runs. I love it!
