And congratulations to Jalen Hurts! The guy has always done things the right way and overcame a lot of his shortcomings and doubters that said he could not make it in the NFL. The guy is pure class, which is doubly impressive considering he is a Bammer.

The score shows that Philly put up a lot of points but if you watched the game, you saw that its defense was the story. The Eagles engaged in wire-to-wire harrassment of Patrick Mahomes and the former Georgia trio of Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis, and Jalen Carter played a huge role. Those four combined for five hits on the quarterback and Davis tallied the lone sack.

As a team, the Eagles had six sacks and 11 hits on Mahomes. It was a dominant showing and a connected effort, one that was missing for this Eagles team a year ago as it faltered down the stretch and lost to Tampa in the opening round of the playoffs. Hurts was asked about that connection after the game and he pointed to the Bulldogs on the Eagles roster.

Well, I’ll say to that, I think a big part of it has to do with the Georgia background on defense, you know,” Hurts said when asked about Philadelphia coming together as a team. “And I think that starts with Nakobe Dean and all those guys that were able to play ball in college together and bring their ways to the league. I think that has a big impact on our culture on defense, how they play, how together they are, and then I think I kind of seeps through the team in many ways.”

The front four were killing Mahomes. Brady said, "Look at his feet, he's just not comfortable the pocket will hold. I wouldn't be either". I don't think Philly ever blitzed because they had to but damn when they wanted to, it was brutal. It all starts up front, and them UGA boys just couldn't be stopped, sideline to sideline. At the risk of being reported by @Toadman005, I broke out my old "Honk if you sacked Brody Croyle" bumper sticker and some whiteout.

Those 6 guys from UGA on that defense taught the Eagles how to "Eat off the floor". It was the Bama players on offense that put up the points to make it a blowout, but those Dawgs on defense now have 2 Nattys and a Superbowl ring by their mid 20s. Credit to Philly front office for understanding the importance of continuity in a free agency world. CFB should take notice.

Philly may have me start watching NFL again. They play great complementary football in the old school manner. Strong D, the O built to run but with the players to take the top off whenever they want. I wish KC could have had the same success on D and had a 10-7 final score. BTW much respect for the Eagles receivers for being team players. It looks like they prefer a ring to gawdy stats and bare fingers.
