The Don't Fuck with Nature thread

Let me guess.....white person?
Yes, he was a white guy. He could bounce from truly caring (1% of the time) to irrationally dangerous (80% of the time) to explicitly homicidal (the rest of the time). Some people have demons. His demons had ghosts, with nightmares sprinkled on top.

He did have a weakness though. If you offered him a sedative, a stimulant, a depressive, a narcotic or a hallucinogen, he’d cut you some slack. But you’d be wise to GTFO before it wore off. And he mixed ALL of them together most days.

This guy was an Army Ranger that was asked too much of, so I couldn’t blame him. But I realized it didn’t make our living arrangements any better. @OldDevilDawg has probably rubbed elbows with similar guys, but is undoubtedly better equipped to handle it safely.

Got a buddy I work with that was a Ranger during several tours of Afghanistan. Our conversations hinge on the fact that after so much, it's easy to get numb to everything. Going through the "afterlife" with zero remorse and a complete lack of concern sometimes invites a coldness that can only be satisfied by entertainment that can be very disturbing for those that don't understand.

I was traveling for about 2 -3 miles on i75 last Wednesday and experienced something very similar at midnight. Thought there was a wreck but it was on both south and north sides of the interstate past Lexington. Everyone was stopped, but realized what was going on when it got to 5mph and started slipping. Got to 10 mph then up to 45 mph before my exit. crazy...

That’s a scary situation, even worse at night. A few years ago i was driving back from the lake shore at night and I was going through the area of the pile up that I posted above. It can always be bad there because with the open farmland, any wind can create white out conditions.

That particular trip, I didn’t feel comfortable going less than 40, because some of the semi trucks were still going 50+. And then of course, someone was just completely stopped. It wasn’t icy, but it was slippery. Once I got closer to the city, it was no big deal. I took my exit, and stopped at a neighborhood bar before going home. I needed something to unpucker my sphincter .
