I saw an old man one time throw a handful of flour up into the air on a bee that was buzzing around a flower bed and he followed it back to the hive to locate the hive, then he somehow managed to get the queen out and put her into a hive box and all the other bees came into the box.. some gangster shit right there!
My FIL had 4 hives still going when I met him but had let them go before I moved near enough to help him with them.
The bee keepers i talked to said they would love to have the hive but trying to get them to transfer to something else at this time of year is death to them. For some reason even when you transfer the comb with them they just die. So yes In this instance i have to build around them.

Recent trip to Kaua’i
I recommend and I have only been to two of the islands (Oahu & Kaua’i) but was not disappointed. Maui and The Big Island eventually.
