The new and improved Good Morning thread!

Don't Quit
Edgar Albert Guest

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,when the road you're trudging seems all uphill,when the funds are low and the debts are high,and you want to smile but you have to sigh,when care is pressing you down a bit - rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns.As everyone of us sometimes learns.And many a fellow turns about when he might have won had he stuck it out.Don't give up though the pace seems slow - you may succeed with another blow.Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor's cup;and he learned too late when the night came down,how close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out - the silver tint of the clouds of doubt,and when you never can tell how close you are,it may be near when it seems afar;so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit - it's when things seem worst, you must not quit.

Good morning, @batchaps4me my son keeps fucking himself and I have to watch it happen. I am beyond tired, and I cannot un-love him. I guess as a parent, I feel like my son is a part of me, not just somebody that happens to be over there, so I feel all his pain, sometimes even more than he does. I'll tell more when the scab begins to form.

Unfortunately, some lessons have to be learned the hard way. As a parent I always tried to make my girls understand that there are two ways to learn… from someone else’s mistakes, or your own. It’s a lot less painful to learn from someone else’s. Try as I might invariably they decided in some cases to learn the hard way. All I could do was try to help them put the pieces back together when shit fell apart.
We’ve all been there, and you know my number if I can help you my friend!

I went through something similar with my son. The good news is that at some point and time there can be a turn around. Mine went from juvenile delinquent, drug user, arsonist ... he was expelled from all county schools for that one ... and Florida fan, to a true family man wanting to be a good husband/father and is set to retire from the Army. TBH the only thing I contributed to his change was getting some of the right people around him. All we can do is love, try to teach, and offer some form of accountability. I wish I could share some secret to success but the truth was I was absolutely not involved in the event that led to his epiphany that scamming the systems and raising hell was not going to be productive nor give him the life he wanted.

EDIT: If you don't have my number and want to talk, let me know.

Problems with the kids. Yeah. All one can do is share whatever wisdom one has from their own life experiences and then it's up to the kid to either do something with it or not.
My son recently went thru a divorce after 18 years of marriage and it made him spiral a bit. All I could do was talk to him and then listen as he vented and give it time. Lately he seems to be ok. Back on his feet and getting a new start and actually seems to be having a good time with the single life again.

Good Morning Folks!

Washing broiler chickens for the state fair is not a fun job. I had to help my daughter wash them today, expierence from today and years past, I think I would rather ride a hayrack on a 1000 bale day rather then spend two hours washing chickens. The girls show tomorrow, so we will be up at 3 tomorrow morning, check in starts at 6. My youngest has to show hers and her sisters tomorrow. Her sister is already in DesMoines competing in the State Fair Queen competition and she won't be able to show her birds tomorrow because of scheduling conflicts. The Queen competition ends Saturday night with the coronation.

The only "washing" chicken I do is under hotwater and then marinating. lol Good luck!
