I sold cattle today for more than I ever have because the actual feeder market is higher than it's ever been. I was a little shocked when I walked in the office and got the check. I had already known what calves had been selling for from reports from other sales, so I had an idea of what they would bring, but when you actually get that check in hand it's like damn that's a lot of money for cattle.
And yes there will be enough for a bit of a present for me. Most definitely a good bourbon or rye, but I'm also thinking maybe something in the pre 64 model 70 variety.
