Morning all. I'm in a hotel in desmoines because I have meetings till noon today and I bet I looked at the clock 20 times last night.. I met with legislators till noon yesterday and had meetings till 8 last night as well.

Ouch, I have only had to meet with legislators a couple of times and even when it went well it was still tedious.

Yeah it's tedious but needs to be done once in awhile, I'm part of an organization that is very politically active and sometimes I have to go do those things. I've been to D.C. once and the state capital 3 or 4 times. I feel I had a rather large roll in changing some federal policy in D.C. a couple years ago. I pissed off a really high ranking unelected bureaucrat in the USDA so bad he wouldn't speak to me the rest of the meeting, the next day we were issued a formal letter of apology from him. Asshole didn't do it in person though. Made the excuse that he wasn't prepared to answer my questions or speak to my concerns. As far as I'm concerned that's his job to know those things, and to be able to defend his position, that's what he's paid for. Stupid fucker. He didn't like the fact I was advocating for less money, and less government interference.

The problem with politicians (yes, even a hired position in the government makes you a politician) is that they have to satisfy everybody. That's not possible. Common sense doesn't always satisfy the boss. Sometimes you have to bite your tongue and look as dumb as a box of rocks just to keep your job.

Oh I agree to an extent but in this instance there was no playing dumb, he just didn't like it. When he thought he knew about what was happening with a policy, and he didn't, doubled and tripled down on it, got proven wrong, and then throw a fit because the policy was shitty and they were called on it, and made to look the fool. I actually enjoyed it, and i know that I made a positive difference in a small way.

Good morning all!!! I go my first night's full of uninterrupted sleep in almost a month! Hopefully I can now get back to my normal level of stupidity.

Great job!!! It has become tough for citizens to have a face to face with any politicians at or above the state level to air grievances and have a positive effect on policy so I admire those that do.

It's my Friday, beeches. AND I got off early. Beer in the appetizer and the main course. I'm working on getting a belly full.

I think this is an appropriate song-------caffeine in the morning and alcohol at night......

@Copejunkie Corey Smith is an amazing artist. Not sure how familiar you are with him because he's relatively local to Georgia (although he plays all over the country. He's on the east coast right now and will be in Hopewell, VA next Thursday night). You can look his stuff up on youtube, but you need to make sure you only watch the live videos. He's put out 13-14 albums now, lots of great songs, but they are MUCH better live than the recordings. He's never signed a recording contract although he's been offered by nearly every Country label out there. They want him to be country, but he just isn't the "country" that they want him to be. That last song I posted was a studio version that really sucks compared to "live". You can find a live version. Here's one of my favorite live songs of his. Check him out. I really think you'll like this song. Especially the lyrics.

Cool, thanks man. I'll have to listen to him tomorrow. With your recommendation he should be good.
