Dad was a bit rough but was always in control of his emotions so when we got punished by him it was deserved and proportional. Mom was a kind and generous woman that tried to live right by her religion but when she got pissed off ... have you ever been whipped with a peach tree limb by a woman that was praying in tongues at the time of the whipping?

This so describes my life growing up. Also I found out that it wasn't a wise thing to laugh when my mother swatted me with her hand when I was about 14. I hadn't been spanked in probably a couple years because of my age, It didn't hurt and I failed to see that it was actually a warning. Enter the whole speaking In tongues thingy.
