Alabama just announced that Nick Saban and Greg Byrne have tested positive for COVID.

I'm struggling to figure out how this will influence the game. I'm not sure if this is a good thing for UGA or the worst thing that could possibly happen. Those kids love Coach Saban. But then, they are also used to him on the sideline gnawing on their ear. Will they have a letdown with him not there, or with they all play the game of their lives.

🤷‍♂️

Vegas line just dropped from Bama -6.5 to Bama -4. That's huge. Hell, having to play a backup QB has had less affect than that for some teams.
My guess is that with all the technology available to him, and the resources at his disposal at worst he will have the damndest live feed and communication setup you won’t find anywhere other than Air Force one and Cheyenne Mountain.

On a side note, the MSM is gonna ride this as hard as they can and give the SEC hell, particularly because of the postponement of the UF/LSU game. I'm wondering if they even mention "asymptomatic".

Conspiracy theory: Saban's fakes covid to avoid letting kirby be the first assistant to beat him,,,, bahahahahaha

Yeah, OK. Then Bama's players play the game of their lives for Saban because he can't be there. A blowout win for Bama. Early on, I thought this would be another OT game with UGA winning this time. Now, I has a sad already.

Our defense made me sick too.

All I gotta say is congrats on watching Bama beat the brakes off of UGA. I had hopes that UGA could win in Tuscaloosa. Saban got the covid. His players just changed their attitude. It's gonna be ugly for my Dawgs. Strange shit causes strange shit. I'm really happy that Saban is asymptomatic, but the fact that he tested positive, made me accept the beatdown that UGA is gonna get.

Unless it's a rumor, golding has been demoted and Charlie Strong will be calling the defense.

And since I tend to be an all or nothing type, I figure either the Dawgs beat a somewhat disorganized BAMA or they come out on fire and, well, kinda like ODD says. A mudholing.

Bama head coach Nick Saban announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19, causing him to go into immediate self-quarantine at his home. The plan, for now, is to have Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian take over head coaching duties.

So, if Georgia wins the game without Nick Saban prowling the sidelines, is there an asterisk on the win? Do Alabama fans have the right to say, “Yeah, but…”?

Absolutely not.

In the 1970 movie Patton, U.S. General George S, Patton receives word from Army G-2 that his arch-nemesis — German general Erwin Rommel — was not present at a North African battle won by the Americans.

Patton’s reaction to hearing the German’s didn’t want their favorite General to lose face?

“I’m my favorite general, and I don’t like to be told that some second-stringer is up against me. Then I lose face…Rommel is the best the krauts have, and I kicked the hell out of him. Now my own G-2 section is telling me he wasn’t even there.”
He’s then reassured by his aide:

“But, general, he undoubtedly planned the German battle. If you defeat Rommel’s plan, you’ve defeated Rommel. Isn’t that true?”
