No I didn't have too. Usually on a calf there's no turning them. I have pulled them upside down and backwards at the same time. That's a bitch, because instead of pulling out and down you have to pull up and over the cows back. I've had to shove them back in before because all that was there was a head or ass. On cattle and horses, feet have to come first.
Man I don't envy you at all. We used to keep those long ass plastic gloves out in the barn for when a foal wasn't sitting right inside the mare and we had to turn it. My mom would tell me to stfu and start turning after I told her she could stfu or do it herself. We weren't a normal family. I outsmarted that b1tch though ... I kept me a set of hobbles in the barn. I've got those long plastic gloves but when trying to fish for a leg they hamper my feel and grip I need when trying to pull the legs up and out. Good thing is all the slime and blood washes off.
