Has cancelled the rivalry game. Because travel is hard.

They didnt want to mention they are 2-8 in the last 10 meetings and L Riley is B Kelly in disguise.

But like the Michigan game. Media will be out this spinning this as ND fault somehow.

It’s two days before Christmas and I am very busy hosting out of town guest to have time to give this a proper response so i will keep it simple.

I won’t point out all the things that make this just as much ND’s fault as USC’s

So I will leave you with me being critical of USC. I am really bummed with this and in my opinion this would have never happened under Pete Carroll’s watch or AD Mike Garrett’s. Love them or hate them, they loved to compete.

This really bums me out.

This is not just as much ND fault.

ND had already moved this game years and years ago because the LA kids didnt want to play in S Bend in late season. And then every time it is in S Bend it is a night game. That actually wasnt ND request that is to help with time difference for USC.

ND fault in this is not wanting it in the first couple of weeks of the season. Thats it. That's all. And even the USC faithful is coming out in droves to put this on the SC AD lap and L Riley that has been talking for what... A year about this game.

I am probably one of the most honest ND fans you have ever met. And I can tell you. There isn't any realistic reason for this other than fear of competition. Thats it.

I'd get used to not being able to play certain teams. The B1G & SEC are going to do everything to keep ND out of the playoffs every year unless they join a conference. The agreement that ND made with the playoffs pissed them off. All of it is not about football but a $ power struggle. With the B1G digging their claws into NBC, CBS, & Fox while SEC now controlling ABC/ ESPN, it might not end how ND hopes.

I dont mind at all. I've said for years that ND should have conferenced up in 99 and I stand by that. But I think now more than ever that ND should join now and get the best terms they can before they are forced to.

But things like this. This is ruining CFB. For a pack of people that always talk about honoring tradition and hating participation trophies. There always seems to be a double standard for all things ND. I mean, ND hasn't changed anything. They are still the same team they were 50 years ago. They dont play for conference trophies. Just for end of season rewards.

As much as I am bummed about this and not happy with the administrations decision it’s foolish to say there isn’t any realistic reason for this other than fear of competition is laughable.

USC is now in the B1G. Last i checked that is a pretty competitive conference.

Have you compared USC’s and ND’s schedule next year. USC’s is brutal, ND’s is lacking competition.

Not an excuse. This game has been played for a century. Nothing about ND has changed since USC made the choice to join the B1G. S Bend is still in the same place, the game was still on the same date, the times were still the same.

The only variables on this come from the SC side. And I dont mean to put you on the defense. You have always been a solid fan. But this is 100% on the SC side. They made the changes they caused this problem. And even the SC faithful are flooding social media saying so.

I suspect there’s more truth to this than anyone in power will admit publicly.

I was fine with ND having a unique arrangement, but I didn’t like them having a guarantee to get in that other non-conference champs can’t have. I agree that particular issue really ended up hurting ND, and will continue to. It seems punitive at this point.

I get how it rubs people wrong. But honestly. It isn't worth the spit it is written on. Since they can arbitrarily change the ranking of a team at the drop of a hat.

But it is a concern that it was USC that was the first team to do this. Basically it signals if a school with a century old rivalry is willing to. It is open game for anyone.

ND has future games with Texas, Wisky, Mich St, Bama, Auburn, and more. Any of those could be cancelled

So you're OK with ND being the only team in the nation having that agreement with the CFB Committee. You're OK with ND and the committee bypassing all the conferences and doing the deal whether anyone liked it or not. You think it doesn't matter because the same committee could chose to rank ND wherever they want to at any time. You think that has nothing to do with it. It's all USC's fault. They're the ones that are spoiled.

OK. Be you.

I think you are using two arguments to justify one point.

USC cancelled their game because L Riley is a 2nd rate coach and doesnt want a harder path to the playoff.

The B1G was okay with them doing it in order to punish ND. And send a message to protect future income from other teams that might consider not thinking of conference first.

On the ranking side of it. I have no argument with any team looking out for their own best intention. I look at it like free speech. In that you have the freedom to say anything you want. But you dont have the freedom from the consequences that come from what you say.

Any team has the right to pursue what is in their own best interests. But if the rest of college football wants to hold it against them they have the right to do so. I dont know if there will be long term unfixable damage from the post season fallout this year. Or if nationally it will just be this 15 minutes of time that anyone cares about it. If it caused ND to end up on a conference (not that crap ACC) Im good with it. But I will say I wasn't happy with the ACC deal when it happened. And with how this all ran out. Im even less happy about it. And I see a path that in the coming years because of this, ND leaves the ACC deal to join the B1G and that is the catalyst that caused the dissolution of the ACC.

Lots of hyperbole that didn't respond to anything I asked.

My bad. I thought I explained it well.

To answer more directly. Any school that is able to do what they can against the system to get a leg up. I am all for. That is their job. I mean if Georgia got some built in advantage each year that not every school had. Would you stop rooting for the Dawgs? Of course not.

This deal was okayed by the governing committee a year ago. This isn't new news. And actually I think it would have helped.
Say this rule was in place. You would have had Bama, Miami, and ND all in. And no Tulane. There isn't anyone out there that can tell me that Tulane and JMU were better teams than ND.

Much better answer.........or...........an answer I can better understand.

I think the biggest thing that most don't understand is the major lawsuit that would happen if the G6 teams were completely locked out as they should be, it would cost the NCAA $BILLIONS$....literally.

I still think it's a horrible look for ND to basically say, "I didn't get what I wanted, so I'm gonna take my ball and go home." That was an incredibly arrogant, incredibly childish, and incredibly foolish decision. Just my opinion.
