What was your favorite year of college football, and why?

It's easy for me. 1989 was the first year the Iron Bowl was @Auburn. Our stadium held about 89,000 and the Tiger Walk had over 20,000 lining the streets. We won the IB 30-20, knocked Bama out of a national championship game, and got their coach fired. IMHO it is still a top 5 stupid coach firing in NCAAF history.

1996! Tillman, Plummer, PAC title and 1:38 from a Rose Bowl Natty. Despite our loss, I was able to see the 19-0 drubbing of 2 time defending champ Nebraska, the Oregon and Cal beat downs and humiliating the rats in their litter box.

I put some thought into my answer.

In 1989 UGA finished the season 6-6. They lost 4 of those games by a combined 12 points. It was a rough season, but they ruined a ranked Florida season in the WLOCP winning 17-10. In the meantime, down in Statesboro, Georgia, Erk Russell became a legend. Erk was UGA's DC under Vince Dooley for 17 years. He penned "Junkyard Dawgs". He penned, "GATA....'Get after their ass' ", by rewriting the Georgia Tech Athletic Association acronym. Erk and Herschel Walker were responsible for UGA winning it all in 1980. As a young Dawg fan, Erk was my favorite coach. In 1981, he left UGA to rebuild a 40 year dormant program at Georgia Southern. I followed my favorite coach to Statesboro. I was in Paulson stadium the day he won his 3rd 1-AA Natty in 5 seasons of existence and became the only HC to go 15-0 in the 20th century. Erk was a different breed.

This is a picture of him after head butting helmets of his defensive players at UGA. One of my favorite pictures ever of any coach of any team, ever.

Asshole.

Yeppers. That was the season that UW came into the Rose Bowl as 14pt underdogs to Michigan and left with a 27 - 20 victory. I watched the Rose Bowl on TV but the entire regular season was radio only ... other than the Apple Cup which was played on some sh1tty VHF channel that warranted turning the TV antenna on the roof around until it came in.

1992 - Stallings 3rd year,

Bama won titles in 78 and 79, I was 14 & 15 years old, all I ever knew was Bama Excellence. then the hard years started, there were flashes of good, but the great slowly left us. perkings got 4 years, then curry got 3 years, then Gene Stallings was hired and went 7-5 his first year in 1990 losing the first 3 games of the season, then he started coaching some good defense and went 11-1 in 1991,

I was so hopeful at the start of the 92 season that after the first game I kept the sports page from our Sunday paper and decided I'd stop saving them as soon as we lost a game,

I still have all 13 of those papers 😁
