Are we gonna have a discussion about Michigan illegally stealing signs?

Do we even have any UM fans on the board? Isn't this kinda like the question, does a cut tree make a sound if it falls with no one around to hear it?
well there is one active in this thread...

@Basement Bias is a Michigan fan. Even though he lives in Indiana. And that is a whole different fight ;)

Seriously though. This could be a very big deal. But also it needs to be balanced out with even knowing the play doesn't make the play make the play. But it gives them a pretty big leg up on knowing where to be or what to expect.

And in a game where the war is won or lost in 3 to 7 seconds by causing players to have a second of hesitation or be in conflict. That is huge.

By no means do I think Michigan is ONLY winning because of something like this. If it is true and there was a process that helped coaches and players know when to be where based on knowing signals or things like that. It really talks to the sportsmanship and ethical nature of the sport. And no one can argue that. The question will only be. If true. Then what?

ATS

Has there been some betting going on because of this?
That’s the question. Especially if someone was betting the 2nd half spread, which is where UM always thrived. Even if an opponent switched signs, they could compare the new ones to their sheet and figure it out after a few series.

There’s been some definitive statements that Vegas is well aware and may have been the impetus for shutting it down. If the integrity of the game is in question, no one is going to bet. I haven’t seen a direct quotes from Vegas, but they know the numbers and can isolate anomalies. I’m sure they’d like to stay out of it just to keep ”scandal” and “betting” from ever being said in the same sentence.

Actually my biggest question is in how this came to light. What I have seen so far. Is that some outside law firm sent information to the NCAA that caused them to open the investigation. But it isn't talked about how the law firm originally received the information.

I don't know what I do know. And as a ND fan it is super easy to just say fuck Michigan. But I also know the NCAA is trash and doesn't know how to investigate. So waiting to see how this all rolls out

I have seen two names bandied as the prime suspects. One was Josh Gattis the former OC that was fired in 21 and the other is a Michigan alum and minority owner of the Vikings that blocked Jim's hire last offseason. Truth be told, we may never know.

Eh, I'll wait to see all the findings, but I could hardly care. I think Deion said it best and I'm sure he now will have the NCAA in his business. What I hope is that this creates the end of the NCAA and a better governing body is created. I hoped that was the case with my UNC hoops team as well but here we are. Just legalize this stuff and be done. As I said, it happens in flag to NFL. I had a pre-k flag coach/parent scouting the other 2 teams in their semi final game. He ended up winning the championship. Had my youth tackle teams be scouted by others. Still won though. Hell our HS team runs the same stuff year after year and we've made it to state 2 years in a row (hopefully 3 this year). The team that has beaten us at state has sent scouts the last 3 or 4 years. They may know us better than ourselves at this point!

With the NCAA you never know.

ND had to give up a ton of wins for a blow job and UNC got nothing for what should have been THE absolute reason for a student athlete death penalty.

My brother (Badger fan) is going to Wisconsin to watch them play OSU. Told him to make sure he gets me pics & vids of OSU's play sheets & signs. If we are going down, I want to go down with the ship! 🤣 My brother hates OSU too! What would have been funny if all the B1G teams went together to do it against OSU.
Cant wait for Game Day! LMAO

While I hate Michigan. I love college football. And really do hope this gets decided on quickly. Because the vacuum is going to cause damage. To the team, the recruiting, the institution, the sport.

There needs to be a bigger conversation about keeping this from happening in the future like the microphone in helmets kind of thing. But also. If this is true. You have to penalize Michigan for it. And I would say that regardless of what team it was

Hey @fritowrdo did you see “that” post on Bucknuts? I won’t share until it’s confirmed elsewhere, but damn! 👀

I honestly hope it’s refuted, but I’m skeptical.
