Are we gonna have a discussion about Michigan illegally stealing signs?

The new reality and protocol is do not self-report. Rather, deny, delay, diminish and distract.

Mizzou self reported immediately and got completely screwed.

KU and Self followed the 4 Ds plan for years and came out slicker than goose shit.

Even if Jim Harbaugh knew nothing about the ongoing sign-stealing scandal at Michigan, the Wolverines coach could be held responsible, according to a newly altered NCAA rule.

A semantic change in the NCAA's coach responsibility bylaw all but assures Harbaugh will be found culpable if evidence is found of wrongdoing in the case involving analyst Connor Stalions.

The language in Bylaw 11.2.1.1 was changed in January. Previously, the rule stated a head coach "is presumed to be held responsible for the actions of all institutional staff members." It was changed to read, "a head coach shall be held responsible for their actions and the actions of all institutional staff members."

If he didn't know, then he is not a good coach.

If he did know and is lying, he is done.

Im hearing escaping to the NFL is less than optimistic now
I’ve seen similar comments from media. Apparently the NFL imposed a 5 game suspension on Terell Pryor when he left OSU (and thus avoided his delayed NCAA suspension).

Harbaugh had the Vikings job wrapped up 2 years ago, but when he flew in to meet them, they backed out. He’s that weird. Last year an NFL team said they spoke with Harbaugh after he contacted them about the opening, but didn’t interview him.

IMO, he’d already be in the NFL if he had that option. But the Raiders might be in play, and they do crazy things. Not sure how Vegas would react to a coach that cheats to affect the outcome of games though.

This seems to be the Michigan fan response. Do not deny the rule breaking but everyone does it.

I live in S Bend. Which even though it has ND in it. Has a ton of Michigan fans. And the only defense they have is that they aren't the only one stealing signs.

Never mind the the level of organization and payroll something like this takes.

Fully agree. Everyone attempts to steal signs. In-game it is perfectly legal.

Travelling the country scouting teams with the egregious intent of stealing signs in preparation of playing them is a level 1 violation and should be punished with extreme malice.

This destroys the integrity of CFB. It's not supposed to be win at all cost...

Was talking to a coaching buddy of mine. And while helmets will for this issue. I guess there is pressure from the networks not to adopt it. And then also from some schools.

So the first issue is that they just changed rules to speed up games. And in college high tempo offenses are pretty common. Radio helmets by the numbers slow down the game. Because the QB still have to communicate the signal they receive. And this is college level with limited prep time. Not NFL with tons more prep time in the week.

And the some schools are against it because of equipment contracts and what not. There isn't a lot of understa ding on how that would work.

The solution to the tempo argument is that teams could still signal in plays, the helmet radios are just an option.

The equipment contract concerns is something I hadn’t heard before. I went to HS with a guy who was a team manager at ND for Lou Holtz. Holtz liked whatever brand of headsets they had been using, and refused to switch when they got a new sponsor…so, they printed up decals of the new sponsor logo and stuck them on top of the brand logo of the old headsets.
