I think we're more likely to see teams in the PAC leave the PAC and join with the leaders of the Big 12 and form a new conference:

Western Alliance
West:
Washington
Oregon
Stanford
USC
UCLA
Arizona
Utah

East:
Texas
Texas Tech
TCU
Baylor
Oklahoma
Kansas
Colorado

PAC 10:
Oregon State
Washington State
California
Boise State
San Diego State
Arizona State
BYU
UNLV
Colorado State
Fresno State

Big 12 raids the G5:
West:
Oklahoma State
Iowa State
Kansas State
Houston
SMU
Memphis

East:
West Virginia
UCF
Cincinnati
Temple
Appalachian State
USF

I would leave the PAC too with their new TV deal...

USC, Oregon and Washington are exploring their options...

I'm not sure if the move is the Big 12. That depends on what Texas is thinking. If Texas wants to build a conference to compete with the SEC and Big Ten, they should look West as the top dogs out West want major changes.

If Texas is content with the status quo, I could see a few PAC teams abandoning ship and forming a smaller, western conference. That would allow the football programs to be more flexible with their OOC scheduling.

Think:
Washington
Oregon
Stanford
USC
UCLA
Arizona
Colorado
Utah

That gives each team 5 OOC games, plenty of flexibility.

two-hour time-zone difference -
not many in the B12 will support
regular games at midnight -

IIRC the Longhorn network and its revenue was a stumbling block during the last major realignment. How do you think that has changed, if at all, allowing them to come into some alliance with the PAC?

The stumbling block was with PAC leadership and Texas. Now the top players in the PAC are turning on PAC leadership. The ball's in Texas' court now. Do they want to be top dog and call all the shots in a 2nd tier conference. Or do they want to be part of a conference that legitimately competes with the Big Ten and SEC.

What will be the conditions on the Longhorn Network rights and its revenue stream for Texas to go to the PAC? I know conditions and money projections have changed since this was last visited but I do not know how. I am not taking any kind of shot at Texas or the PAC, I just don't know how this hurdle will be cleared and I haven't read anything about either side bending. TBH, I haven't read much on the situation lately either so I am genuinely curious as to what window is opening ... I am assuming television contracts are ending and the window for negotiations are opening.

It could still be a sticking point, especially since the LHN is owned by ESPN. But those are 3rd tier rights. I could see the LHN co-existing with a new conference's TV contract.
