I'm not sure if the move is the Big 12. That depends on what Texas is thinking. If Texas wants to build a conference to compete with the SEC and Big Ten, they should look West as the top dogs out West want major changes.

If Texas is content with the status quo, I could see a few PAC teams abandoning ship and forming a smaller, western conference. That would allow the football programs to be more flexible with their OOC scheduling.

The stumbling block was with PAC leadership and Texas. Now the top players in the PAC are turning on PAC leadership. The ball's in Texas' court now. Do they want to be top dog and call all the shots in a 2nd tier conference. Or do they want to be part of a conference that legitimately competes with the Big Ten and SEC.

It could still be a sticking point, especially since the LHN is owned by ESPN. But those are 3rd tier rights. I could see the LHN co-existing with a new conference's TV contract.

I just can't see them willing to make a jump unless the money is guaranteed to be more than they now have and I don't see that happening for a while.

Lets take OU. You can drive from Norman to Orlando in about 19.5 hours. Norman to Boise is 22 hours.

Yeah and even partially tied to Tulsa. We have to rotate home and homes. It's all legislatively tied.
