Conference Realignment?

That news leak isn't good for Stanford/California.
I think Stanford only made sense if it was done to bring in ND, and they don’t want to do it.

The B1G teams could probably force the issue if the ACC falls apart by not scheduling ND in football. ND plays hockey in the B1G too, which is pretty much a gift.

But why force someone in?

What's ND's deal anyways? They're located smack dab in B1G country and they have rivalries with USC, Stanford and to a lesser extent Michigan.

They want to be different I guess. And the ACC and B1G have accommodated them for some reason.

B1G officials need to send ND a message.

from what i understand,
theres no addl moneys for addl schools
from the B10 media deal,
so it'll be interestin to see
if UO/UW come in with dramatically reduced funds,
similar to Maryland n Rutgers when they joined -
also, since the funds will be comin out of the other schools pockets,
what is the incentive to vote yes ??

50% of B1G money is still more than 100% of PAC money with this latest media contract offer from Apple. I'm guessing it will be similar to the Rutgers / Maryland deal where Washington and Oregon will get half shares for the next 3 - 5 years. I can live with that.

I think it’s being driven mostly by the networks, with Fox leading the way. The schools can’t pass up the cash, so they do what they’re told.

The Big Ten is/has been engaging with their current media partners and others. I'm not sure how much they've been offered to increase the inventory by bringing in OR/WA but I can say for certain that it's not zero. I still have a lot of confidence that OR/WA will get invites and the Big Ten's offer will beat any of their other options.

I was skeptical that there was going to be enough money for Stanford/Cal and that appears to be the case.

Remember that USC and UCLA were the exception, not the rule. When the Big Ten has expanded in the past (Nebraska, Rutgers, Maryland) they didn't give those members a full share in year 1. They worked their way up to a full share over 6-7 years. That's definitely going to be the plan that Oregon and Washington would be put on.

These conferences moves aren't 1 year decisions, they are long term decisions. Long term, Oregon and Washington want to be in the Big Ten.

I've learned this week is that B1G fans totally suck when it comes to sh1t talking. A few of us from the PAC FB groups joined the B1G groups and they've already banned most of us. =/
