Has Anyone Else Lost That Competitive Feeling from 2020?

I'm normally a die-hard fan, but once sports shutdown, I seemed to have done the same. Now that they've been back for the most part, I can't seem to be as excited as I used to be. Guess that comes with no teams left in the NHL or NBA to cheer for and not getting too excited about the possible Marlins playoff. Not even soccer ignited anything. The 49ers lost last weekend and I didn't seem to care. Plus no B1G football yet so I couldn't get into the college games of recent. I usually get excited about high school football in both Indiana & Ohio but I'm just glad they get to play instead of paying close attention to what happens. Even more, I can't bare to watch the step son play his flag football games when last year I looked forward to it. Plus no youth tackle football to coach this fall (maybe this spring) but I can't say I miss that either. Heck I can't even get excited watching any form of racing either. I thought for sure once sports started up, I would be fired up and the competitive juices would start to flow again. What is wrong with me? Anyone else feeling the same way? It's like I'm just a shadow of myself at this point.

Have you also "lost that lovin' feeling" OP?

If so, extenze would appreciate your biznazz.
Nah, lol but we don't need 3 under 3 to go along with the 3 step kids as 5 is enough for now. We don't have a big enough house for that. Bad enough my BIL will now have 4 under his roof come April when April of 2019 he just had his 2nd. Plus my oldest cousin has 4, my other cousin has 5, and my aunt has 4 that are close to our kids' age. We all try to help one another out. Maybe that's why I have lost the competitive sports mojo?

Glad I could help.

This year has been a mess and to me it feels that sports are contrived right now, without full stadiums it feels something like a scrimmage, plus no one actually knew if or how long the teams would play and fans have entered this season with trepidation. I'm enjoying watching highschool football because we aren't doing anything different from a team or fan standpoint. Now the NFL and the NBA I'm not watching, haven't paid attention to the NBA for a long time. And I'm still hungover from the ncaa canceling wrestling last year right before nationals. So I would say you are just dealing with it in your own way. It will work its way out.

Yep. I've never had a year where I just don't seem to care (so far). Hell, I was more interested in cooking fried chicken for my family and best friends last Saturday than watching OU play. Had a lot of fun watching my nephew play under the Friday night lights last night, though.

We still have some hard restrictions though numbers have stayed pretty low in both sides of the Indiana/Ohio line in this area. A few cases seem to be popping up around the areas all around though. I believe they eased up in Indiana a bit for my county there. It was 4 parents per Senior players only. Now believe our home teams can have 4 parents per Senior and 2 for all other players. May have visiting fans but not sure. May just be in conference visiting fans. Ohio teams have had like 2 fans per player on each team or a capped capacity. They have like "czars" handing out discipline or fines to all sports levels hired by state of Ohio & DeWine. I normally just watch on the live webcast, but still seems odd with some teams not playing due to numbers or games canceled because of small outbreaks.

You ain't the only one. At best I have a half-hearted feeling about it all.

Watched first high school game yesterday at home. What was nice was I could put it on the big screen as they broadcasted on Youtube.

As for competitive. I am getting back into my hobbies and working out which normally takes a huge dive in the fall.

Its just different but we all have to learn what is the new normal.

Not sure it's that, but just mindset. It went from something that had consumed a part of my life and then once it left, I realized I didn't have to have it to survive. I at first watched virtual sports like NCAA football, Madden, Racing, and etc until those kind of died out filling a void. They did a good job for a 3 or so months. Then our Indiana local 4H fair came around and that started to consume my time. It wasn't really competition that was occurring as we knew the step daughter's starter calf wasn't going to win much and it was step daughter's first year. Show went as expected, but really like that step daughter (call her step daughter 2 as she has a twin as well as a younger full blood brother) over came her fear. Then half a week later we got to join up with my cousins who moved back from Florida to do the rabbit show. My family had been involved for years, but after my brother no one was left because these cousins were in Florida until after the 2019 fair (my uncle by marriage passed away suddenly in Feb of 2019) and my 2 older cousins' kids were not able or not old enough like my step kids. We just bought some rabbits to get started and just take our lumps. Turns out, we ended up winning almost every aspect of the non meat rabbit portions of the show. In fact step daughter 2 won the best of show (best overall individual rabbit of all the breeds & varieties). So that jump started that pushed back desire of wanting to do research more about homesteading for the future. Learning about other species of livestock and gardening ideas. Now it's trying to figure out how to get to that goal as well as bring back the old ways of being the sports fan I was before. Maybe it's because the sports aren't exactly how they were before stopping and it just seems like going through the motions until we get back to normal. Sorry for the long post but just had to get that all out.

what breed(s) ?
we raised/bred rabbits for several years -
mostly meat rabbits - californians -
at one point, we had over 100 in the barn -

daughter won showmanship several times -

cheers!

Dutch. Growing up I had many varieties, but our family was always known for Dutch. Another family we are friends with were the Californian meat pen & single fryer family. We were one of the 3 first families of the club so to speak but only ours had never won. If I get the house in my name sold to my cousin (who has lived there for 2 years) and pay the one we stay in off (in wife's name), I hope to find a place on the Indiana side close to my parents to raise much more. Especially meat breeds like Californians, New Zealand, and Florida Whites. Also want to try on Angora out for the fiber too. Plus whatever livestock we want to try to raise for dual/tri purposes as well as showing.

I have been apathetic about the season so far ... just because I thought it would be shut down quickly. This past week I have watched all of the 2019 Auburn games and now I am stoked.

Raises hand.

2018-No cable/Internet for most of the season because of Hurricane Michael.

2019-Waning interest with an inept head coach, divided team, and rebuilding/family health issues/looters on my mind 24/7.

2020-New head coach/staff and the team has limited practice because of the China virus. I almost forgot FSU's season opener and now the head coach has the China virus and can't coach against Miami.

This is from someone that's been attending games since I was in diapers and still has his first ticket stub.
