I know what you mean! I've had to learn different ways of doing the things that need doing, especially after my knee replacement. I've also learned that sometimes the best tool in the toolbox for the job is the checkbook and just pay someone else to do it!It's amazing what I think I can still do, but my body says "Haha, no."
They have chewable little blue pills now, gramps.I am simply not capable of doing what I could physically 13 years ago. It's a hard pill to swallow.

You'd be wrong on that front, pally wally....Yeah, but them little blue pills don't help me work 100 hours a week. You wouldn't know nothing about that though, would you snot nose?
If someone had told me when I was younger how bad the physical drop off from 40 - 50 is, I wouldn't have believed them. Fact is, at 53 now, I am simply not capable of doing what I could physically 13 years ago. It's a hard pill to swallow.
I've also learned, that when I AM tackling a big job to take breaks. Sometimes it may be work 10 minutes, rest 10 minutes depending on the physicality of the work. The job still gets done but I'm not hobbled up for two days afterwards.Once I get going I am pretty good. It is the get going part I have to work on. I see a lot of people my age that needs a new starter. That is why I am pulling the plug. My job soon is to work on me more.
Oh RTN while I can do most anything I, like you, understand just let someone who does it every day do it most of the time.

I have heard that and it's always bothered me, my dad is 64 and I am surprised at the amount and types of work that he is still able to do.If someone had told me when I was younger how bad the physical drop off from 40 - 50 is, I wouldn't have believed them. When I was a young boy, I used to help by Grandfather in the fields. He would work slow and steady while I worked like hell to try and get it done so I could do other stuff.Typical fucking squid. If you ain't wide open, you're slowing down. The only option after slowing down is stopping. Fuck that. I'm hitting that brick wal going wide ass open.

The wife and I were discussing this the other day. Most young people today have no work ethic. ( FYI, it's OUR fault due to us providing everything for them, me included.)I still outwork people half my age. Difference is, I do it because I have pride in myself and what I do. Combine that with the number of younger generation folks that don't want a job, just a paycheck.....well, you know where this is going.

fell off a 3'-4' wall doing yard work not too long ago. landed on my arse. couldn't freakin move the next day. couldn't sit in an office chair for more than 15 mins for 3-4 days.
20 years ago i would have slammed a beer and used it with the old lady for the sympathy sects. at this age, i didn't want anyone to touch me.
getting old sucks
