Pappy van Winkle

I have a bottle of Van Winkle Special Reserve (12 year). I thinks it’s good….but doesn’t live up to the hype. I certainly like some more obtainable, less expensive bourbons better.

I've never been a bourbon collector. Maybe I just take it for granted living here? I'm not sure. I have friends with extensive and expensive collections. My thoughts have always been I buy the bottle to enjoy its contents. The only bottle I've ever saved is my Tim Couch Makers Mark bottle, and even then, I opened it and drank it because it's Makers Mark, so....

I appreciate the finer bourbons but I've always just worked my way through a nice bottle over time and moved on to another down the road. Never saw any sense in hoarding it. It's meant to be enjoyed, not looked at.

That's exactly what I do. I've never bought a bottle to collect.
