Goddam you are stupid.

#1 - It was NOT intentional grounding. QB had no control of the ball when it came out of his hand.

<---- 1This is where he let go of the ball, moron.

#2 - NO - YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG.

_0002.jpg

The ball is above AND behind his throwing arm.... HE LOST CONTROL of the ball. Moron.

The other angle showing the ball flying off to the side and behind him. NO FORWARD PASS and certainly not intentional. I WIN.

#3 - None of the other bullshit you posted was even applicable. YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG. So shut the fuck up and take your loss like a man, instead of a petulant child who cannot accept facts. At this point you only make yourself look like an IDIOT.

One last angle that shows the ball flying backwards after it was knocked out of Garret's hand.

Ball is recovered on approximately 2.5 yard line way behind the QB. Line of scrimmage was on the 17th yard line.

I guess it was second and thirty-one. My bad! It was obviously an inadvertent fumble. There's no disputing that part. He was obviously going to pass the football and like it or not there WAS in fact a player in relative close proximity. And it seems obvious to ME he intentional grounded it.
By the way there IS a rule prohibiting stacking the line of scrimmage but I was WRONG they only had six on the line.
The correct call is intentional grounding. It doesn't matter where the ball lands. Backwards was a consequence of the trajectory of the football. I guess you could make the claim since it WAS a forward pass attempt (and indeed it WAS) that it landed BEHIND it might count as a lateral. But there wasn't any player in close proximity to recover. And intentional grounding means the ball is dead. It might still be recoverable.
I might have to look into that part. I kinda doubt it, though. The whole reason of intentional grounding is to negate recovery of the football. But I'm willing to give you the benefit if the doubt. It did land behind him. But any pass thrown into the ground is behind the line of scrimmage. Anyway, it's a moot point. I do think the correct call is Intentional grounding. Loss of down. If it had been fourth down instead of first, game over! Unfortunately for you it was first down.

No shame in you being wrong. Again... well, over and over, I guess.

I said I was wrong about the formation being illegal. It wasn't an illegal defense formation. I admit when I'm wrong. That's one of my strongest attributes. I make mistakes. I doubt I'm alone. Regardless, we can probably come to a consensus of opinion. But first I think it's worth mentioning, again that you CAN'T simply annhilate the quarterback. I forgot to mention how Gilbert was annhilated on the touchdown pass to what WAS Colt McCoy's favorite target, Jordan Shipley. Interesting to note it took a solid HALF of football for Gilbert to get his feet under him. Following which he played exceptional football (as good it would seem as McCoy). Making me wonder, again what MIGHT have been. I doubt I'm alone.
But I'm not one to split hairs. McCoy was forcibly removed from the game, unwillingly by Mack Brown who rolled the dice on Gilbert. Who later transferred to S. Methodist. Where he ended June Jones career after starting fast, fell like a stone.
Wasn't the pretext Texas never recovered???
I'm thinking that was the invitation. Texas never recovered from it would appear in hindsight, not Colt McCoy's performance.
But Garrett Gilbert's. Correct me if I'm wrong. O.k. Gilbert pissed the game away.
He lost the football. He wasn't in the grasp?
That photo you showed. That isn't in the grasp? The defender doesn't have him securely tied up and incapable of advancing it? Because if he DOESN'T, then AGAIN, Gilbert has the option of running, throwing to an open man, or pitching it out of bounds.
Hmmmmmm. We have a problem.
He wasn't in the grasp? But isn't that the argument YOU are making? That he WAS, therefore he couldn't pass the football.
He was in a passing formation. That's clear.
He was left vulnerable to the pass, sadly.
He did attempt to throw the football after.
But if he's in the grasp, which it would seem to be by your analysis, he's DOWN! Point of contact. Loss of down. Simple as that.
We really have nothing further to discuss
#41 the defender who recovered the football is the SAME player who levelled McCoy on his touchdown pass to Jordan Shipley (#9) W.R.
Who was the SAME player who caught the punt. A pivotal player, in other words. You can't lose too many of those guys before the outcome itself becomes suspect
Anyway, Gilbert ended Jones AND it would seem Mack Brown's careers. That's odd.
Hmmm. I'm thinking MAYBE Texas has a better chance to win with McCoy playing. That's the crux of the argument, IMHO.

You are just the one lying, apparently.
Yeah I lied about McCoy being injured and Gilbert having to take over in his absence. I'm sure that had no bearing in the result. Gilbert has proved himself to be the consumate professional after all. McCoy hasn't proven to get valuable as a Brown. Get real. People know who the better player was. It might have been premeditated. I hope it wasn't. But I heard tale tte objective was to take McCoy out with a ferocious hit

I think you need to go back and read some of your responses as you seem to be confusing the argument... so, being the standup guy I am, I'mma help you out... follow along:

1st - That's a baby step ... we are making progress now.
2nd - No one said anything about annihilating the QB - There was no spear, no illegal hits such as leading with the crown of the helmet, No horse collar. Period. The previous play you are referring to is not in this argument. We are purely talking about the fumble, here.

3rd - I dont know if I would say "pissed away" the game. Yes, that play ended Texas's chance at winning but Garret did put them in a position to potentially win... but then again, this is not the argument.

4th - Yes, he lost the football because he was hit on his blind side by Anders. As Anders hit him he lost control of the ball and he was drawing his hand back at the time but never got the chance to release the ball which would have been a pass. You mention my pic... here's another one, 1 second after the first screen shot:

GarretAnders.JPG

That was 1 second after the initial hit. From there the ball flew out of his hand and was recovered. It really is quite simple to see it was a fumble. No if's ands or but's. A textbook fumble.

You know that is not what I was referring to... stop trying to play damage control. Just own it.

I doubt it was a full second after but I get your gist all the same. Metaphorically it was after the initial hit, yet he's still in possession of the football, it would appear to me. I personally wouldn't have ruled it down by contact. That's more along the thinking of a professional football player, notwithstanding. So I'll let you have that. It doesn't really change anything. He's got the football in the pocket and is being tackled.
But, he released the football of his own cognition. If it wasn't intentional grounding then it was an illegal forward pass. Meaning he probably ought to have been penalized.
Honestly this is getting ridiculous. I don't think he likely would have rallied. But the preceding play a defender held an open receiver. Herbstreit commented on the unlikelihood a defense that surrendered multiple and repeated sacks by Ndomukong Suh could handle the pressure, yet they did! Meaning they'd already largely passed the test. At least as far as pass protection.
Yet somehow in the clutch Alabama had the Ace in the hole at the appropriate time? Fairly unlikely in my estimation. Something's fishy. Almost (I hate to make these accusations) like in that movie where they show Jerry Reed reading Football for Dummies. It was as weird as that movie.
I don't pretend to know what happened. It would be wrong for me to speculate but I smell a rat. I think I will leave at that for now. Texas NEVER loses to Alabama. Brigham Young NEVER loses to Texas. You're telling me Alabama wasn't aware of it? GMAFB. They knew perfectly well their predicament. But I guess Texas was lucky to play fir a championship in the first place. Makes me wonder how Nebraska might have done assuming they could have qualified?

Ultimately it all becomes water under the bridge. I saw the game. I was invited to a party of sorts, and it wasn't partial to any one particular result. My mom made mention of the loss of McCoy and she had no dog in the hunt. That should prove it was relevant. We aren't Texas Longhorns fans. As far as Alabama I thought for a national champion particularly at quarterback they were atrociously bad. So bad, it's something of a miracle really they won it.
But I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.
What's done is done. All I personally care about, truth be told is the result. I just tire of the excuses people make for not playing thetr best. Honestly, it's irrelevant. Alabama pulled out the W. That's the statistic I care about. That's the statistic I'm interested in.
Whether or not it was the right result, honestly becomes less relevant over time. I'm not so stupid not to know that outside influences matter. But Championship teams adjust to the circumstances they're presented with. In the Holiday Bowl. Brigham Young played Blaine Fowler part of the game. A result of Robbie Bosco being injured. Possibly with ill intent. I couldn't say. But you won't hear Brigham Young complaining about not playing thetr best.
One notable exception might be the 1990 Holiday Bowl. Brigham Young complained about their opponent, Texas A&M. Brigham Young felt slighted. Anyway they were slaughtered. So it shows you how important it is to respect your opponent. Brigham Young was beaten to a bloody pulp. The simple fact is Texas A&M was a credible opponent and Brigham Young was selfish.
So be very careful what you wish for. You might get it. Brigham Young lost 65-14.

An exercise in futility if ever there was one. This pimp for mormon u is a piece of work for sure.
Well. I guess you can call me a liar if you want. But I'm not lying. Brigham Young is 4-1 against the University of Texas. The game they lost was in Austin and it was close enough (one point determined the result) it's a fair bet it might have gone the other way had it been held elsewhere. I think they're 45-65-1 (I actually haven't researched it in a while) against P-5 opponents. By the way I never lie.
Top-60 which by the way isn't only FAIR but a demonstration of the aptitude of BYU. Top-60 says they are mostly competitive against teams within FBS. I'm not pimping for BYU. I attended Colorado State University. Not Brigham Young. I wasn't an honors student but I passed my classes and learned something about statistical methods. My belief is Brigham Young tied Florida in 1984. F.W.I.W.

I’ll say this... you’re consistent.
I try to play the game fairly. Simple as that. No excuses. I think everyone would be better off if they left their excuses at the front door. I lose battles. What difference does it make if I didn't bring my A game? It still counts the same. Tired of trying to pound sense into your cinder block of a head. Believe whatever you want to believe. Believe Alabama's God's gift to the college football universe. Life isn't a game. At the end of the day the only person who cares is Nick Saban. That's commendable. But it isn't everything. Life isn't supposed to be about winning every game every time. You win some, you lose some. That's reality. I like to live in reality and not some alternative universe where you NEVER lose.

It’s not about Alabama, never has been. It’s about you having the football IQ of a slug. You don’t know shit about the game and refuse to learn. You then “double down” when proven wrong time after time.

I never participated beyond middle school. I think I've admitted that. I also admitted my contribution wasn't significant. I'm not quite sure what your point is. I haven't been proven wrong. I said Alabama beat Texas. It doesn't really matter that much to me if you want to know the truth. I wasn't responsible for any of it.

I never attended Brigham Young University. My brother did but I never did. I'm really not very closely connected to their religious philosophy. I know something about it but not enough to position me very high among those who are engaged.
As far as Brigham Young football I've only seen them play a few times. One time I believe was in 1997 when they played New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Kevin Feterik was the quarterback. He was quite talented! That should bode well fir Alabama since they defeated Brigham Young in 1998. 38-31. It wasn't some run-of-the-mill football team is the point I'm making. But believe whatever you want.
You began by complaining it seems of the quality of competition you fade. Maybe if you quit ducking teams of the caliber of Brigham Young you will have less to complain about is the point I'm making. Quit making excuses when you lose. O.K?

I think it's about time we met in person and settled this like gentlemen. Where would you like to meet? I'm interested in learning all about your manliness. Unless you're scared? Lowly pissant.
