It rained on and off this morning so I got the last of the cows finally moved to cornstalks. I'm going hunting this afternoon.

Short face, flat back and belly/chest, I'd say you are right on the money age wise.@RazzlDazzl A neighbor killed the buck that I let walk last Sunday. 150+ inch 3 year old, He would have been a giant in 2 years. Main beams had no mass. I had him at 10 yards in a shooting lane and he was looking away. Fuck, pisses me off he's dead. View attachment 5063
If I can share a little bit of my three years of science fair projects studying deer movement with government weather reports and trail cams, (back when you still had to develop film), peak movement was always 1-2 days before a front.Morning all. Woke up at 5 to light rain and lots of wind. I decided the deer stand could wait till a little later.
Cool. When I pulled into the farm I was going to hunt there was a roughly 135 inch 8 with a split g2 on the left side chasing a doe all over the field, so I sat and watched till they went over the hill down into the end of a big valley that comes up into the field. So I snuck over the hill so I could see and they were at the end of the timber and they bed down. The wind was right so I got down in the timber and worked my way up to them, ended up 30 yards away. They never busted me. Sat there on the ground pretty much all day hoping a bigger buck would show up but never did. About 330 the doe decided that it was time to stretch her legs again and took the buck around the field and they finally ended up disappearing off to the north farther down the valley. If I can share a little bit of my three years of science fair projects studying deer movement with government weather reports and trail cams, (back when you still had to develop film), peak movement was always 1-2 days before a front.
My control was on an Air Force Base in a closed area, the other on a dog hunting lease. Same results.
Redneck nerd out.
