The new and improved Good Morning thread!

I wore an Auburn shirt to my doctor's appointment and therefore have had handicapped parking since before my second TKR surgery. I was just crowded by a F250 on my passenger's side so I crowded the line on my left so my wife could get out. Technically it is a parking violation and I have no ill feelings over that. By the letter of the law, and I cherish that, I am guilty. What I have an issue with is that there is no option to just pay the ticket and I must show up in court and pay court costs. Since I am paying for the judges time, I am going to use it as I see fit. Oh, I am going to plead not guilty and have a dozen of prepared, detailed questions of the officer that wrote it. Where I am struggling ... by struggling I mean knowing I am wrong but just can't help it ... is that if there is no pictures then it all hinges on the officer's credibility and I am going to ask for a continuance until I can FOIA the officer's disciplinary record or ask direct questions about it in open court. Whenever I think I have gotten my court cost's worth, I shall change my plea.
This would be gold to witness, hope it goes well, I wonder if you chose jail instead of fine how many days would it take. Is that even possible?

As it turns out, I had no court today. Mandatory attendance applied only to unauthorized parking in handicapped spot, not a crosshatch violation as I was told. I paid the ticket without court costs and left. I am really disappointed, in a way ... I was loaded for bear and itching for a fight. I could have stayed and disputed the ticket, but I wussed out. See, I am only mostly just stupid by habit, not choice.

You should have contested it. I spent about an hour a couple of years ago over failure to stop at a stop sign. I took pictures and all. It was almost a $200 ticket. And of course the cop never showed up and it was dismissed without me saying anything but "okay." . Probably helped that my last ticket (75 in a 55) was in 2006. lol

I started to but to be honest it could have been a lot worse. Back in FEB my MIL passed after a long battle with dementia and I accidently let my car registration expire. Had it not been for the parking ticket I would have found out the hard way. I really was not upset by the ticket but really pissed off at "mandatory" court and court costs. In and of itself, the ticket saved me money and roadside visit with a state trooper.
