Good morning.
 
I dont get OT, I just get straight pay. I dont know how they get away with it but they do. My straight pay is pretty good as I get paid wether I go in or not on-call.
I was lucky in that our first forty was straight time, the first twelve hours of OT were time and half and anything over that was time and 3/4. If you were on shift work, about once a month you had seven days off in a row without missing an hour in the pay period. You could easily get 48 hours at time and 3/4. It was great for 401k purposes but anything over 54 hours saw relatively negligible effects on your net pay.

Yeah, there is a "sweet spot" on taxes, and if you work too much you get screwed. Makes no sense.
