The new and improved Good Morning thread!

Good morning everyone.

Out of curiosity, does a warm or cold spring mean much to you as far as how the wet or hot growing season will be?
It can. When you go into spring in a drought it is hard to catch up, especially when the temps are warmer than normal. But as far as long term of how the weather will be, to me it's a guessing game. I've seen it go all sorts of ways. dry spring/wet summer. dry spring/dry summer, hot spring/cool summer, wet spring/dry summer, wet spring/wet summer. Im sure there is data on it. To me it's a crap shoot and I almost always err on the side of expect a drought.

Thanks. The reason I asked was when I was young, everyone in the older generations had their sayings on it and they were often contradictory. Just curious if that was a regional or more widespread rural culture.

There's plenty of sayings around here to. I would say it's a rural culture thing. There's degrees of truth in them. Like, rain on Easter Sunday, it's supposed to rain the next seven Sundays. Or all black woolly bear caterpillars in the fall are supposed to signal a bad winter. And i believe there is some truth to this one. If there is dew on the grass the rain will pass.

I know people that still swear by the wooly caterpillar. If the cows were laying down, Grandpa wouldn't bother to go fishing ...
