Spencer won it on 2 torn acls. He tore the first one a couple years ago and never had it fixed, then he tore the second one at the big ten tournament. That's serious talent and will power there. On top of that, he's still going to wrestle in the Olympic trials in a couple weeks as well. Without acls I dont have my Hope's up for him winning it. I believe if he was healthy he would win it. What say you @CowpokeU @Basement Bias
That was just a tremendous effort out of that young man, I would have serious doubts about his success in the trials as well, with losing most of his stability/mobility.
On a lighter note...

I could tell something was wrong in the finals compared to earlier this year when watching him.

Spenser is an absolute beast of a competitor. I honestly think he has what it makes to make the olympic team at his KGs but I would rather him rest, get his knees taken care of and then go for it.

Did you see AJ Ferrari is also was invited to the Olympic trials?

You know how it is being a fellow okie, wrestlers are a different breed. It's also why they are so dominant in the UFC.

Also have you heard of OU mulling over dropping their wrestling program in favor of taking their lacrosse team to the national stage. I say fuck that. They are 5th I think in total National Titles in wrestling. They better not Stanford themselves.

I'll be there in my Orange and Black to protest with you crimsoners

All ncaa CHAMPIONS I believe are automatically qualified for the trials. Congrats to him

Wish they could have lacrosse while keeping wrestling. I just love sports and follow both.

I havent seen or heard anything about OU dropping their program, albeit I am sometimes out of the loop. It seems like Rosselli is starting to get them headed in the right direction. OU has also picked up a couple of top recruits from my HS here in OK, was fortunate to be an assistant the last few years to watch them grow and mature. They will most likely be going head to head with the Ferraris for the next few years. It will be exciting to watch

I really hope that that is all it is, a rumor.

Spencer Lee withdrew from Olympic trials.
I'm assuming that he is going to get his knees fixed.

Good. I want him at full form when he makes the olympic team. Also fuck Iowa again...you're within 10 of us and that can't happen. Next year we should have a better showing and hopefully our dual happens so we can measure up.

Also FUCK PENN STATE

Getting worried aren't you. I really dont expect Lee to wrestle next year, I think he will get his surgery and Get healed up for the world team trials. I expect him to redshirt.
And yes we agree. FUCK PENN STATE

Getting a little worried. It's been 14 years now since our last championship and I'm unsure why that is even a thing. I don't think John Smith has lost his touch but recruiting is getting harder with MW and NE schools seeming to be the only legitimate wrestling states anymore.

Also again....FUCK PENN STATE

With the rise of Penn st. Recruiting has been hurt for everyone. When you can send a number one ranked for their weight class during highschool wrestler onto the mat at nearly every weight in college you really hurt the overall ability of other schools to attract top talent, and you don't have to do as much coaching yourself, because those kids are already very good. Of course there is talk of slush funds for some of their guys after they graduate. I don't know if that's true or not, possible, yes, with the cash they have in their club, they completely crush everyone else. Now I will also admit that they are good coaches. That's undeniable. I think the brains behind the coaching is actually Cunningham, Sanderson is just the figure head, Cunningham is the one that gets those guys ready, and he dosen't have to worry about the administration stuff.

What do you guys think about Lee and Steveson both earning the Hodge Trophy? I like it as both are deserving, but sort of goes against the main idea of one elite wrestler winning it.
It's been shared in the past, I personally don't have a problem with it, I do think that it should have just been Lee that won it though for the plain and simple fact that he had more pins I believe. They are both tremendous wrestlers and dominated their weights.

@CowpokeU OSU beat OU 31 to 3 in bedlam. In the handshake line Ferrari gets in a little fight with OUs heavyweight. Kind of looks like Ferrari threw a possible weak punch.
Kind of Reminiscent of Iowa and Iowa st. last week and their scrum after the dual.
You will have to go find the video for some reason I couldn't get it to transfer.

Oh I was watching in real time when that happened. Boy caught a two piece and a double leg for #TWO from Ferrari. I've watched the video so many times. Ole boy from OU pushed AJ and then kept after him after getting slapped.

Also fixed the score for you from that takedown after the match😂
