Transfer Portal 2023

Game changer. He's literally a bear on the DL.
SC added a lot of size and skill on the DL Lucas, Barrs and Sullivan have been great. But Bear is seriously impressive. Cobb was a major piece at LB along with Tackett Curtis he’s going to be special imo doesn’t look like a freshman. Excited to see what the defense looks like this season

Ford primarily played RT but he’s versatile also played LT and guard. Very athletic , extremely hard worker and has great character. Great pick up for UK

Sorry for your team's loss, but this sounds like great news for us. Our starting RT last year was pretty much a walking false start and struggled with certain blocking schemes.....especially pass blocking.

@Shower Fart

Losing WR Keon Coleman would be a punch to the nuts. He could be drafted in the 1st with the trajectory he’s on. Definitely our best offensive player.

Losing QB Payton Thorne (a 2 year starter) would be…whatever. He was outplayed in spring by Noah Kim with 3 years of eligibility left, higher ceiling, etc. Problem is, he only weighs 185, and the backups would be a RS freshman and a true freshman.

I’d prefer that Thorne stayed as a back up, but WOTS is he wants assurances that the job is his. If true, he can gtfo.

Coleman though, that would be a major loss.

I‘m hoping that we don’t become a farm system for the SEC.

Btw, tell Penix he still has a few hours to enter the portal, and also convince him to come to MSU. Thanks!

Rumors are that Auburn may get both.

There are some rumors regarding Coleman and SC. But I don’t see it SC picked up Pregnon from Wyoming to replace an Oline slot. I’m not sure they can take another player without another player leaving. Their roster is pretty packed and WR really isn’t a need.

Not that I want Auburn to poach Coleman, but you don’t want to try to get both.

Rumors in EL are that schools had been in Coleman’s ear about Thorne hurting his production and draft stock for the last few weeks. So he was hitting the ole port hole. Then, on Sunday, Thorne decided to enter as well, and Coleman had 2nd thoughts. But, both are in now, and Coleman gets to see what’s out there.

Jayden Reed, an MSU WR just got drafted in the 2nd round, a bit higher than his production last year would indicate…mock drafts had him a bit lower. But he had a great Senior Bowl and combine…with someone other than Thorne throwing to him.

Thorne talked to Mel Tucker after spring camp, looking for assurances that he’s the starter. He was told the QB competition will remain open thru fall camp. So he hit the port hole too.

The MSU staff is trying to get Coleman to stay, while Thorne was given thanks for his contributions and best wishes to his future.

Been meaning to ask what is going on for Mich St? Feels like the wheels are falling off some

Hard to say for sure. The 2021season had every bounce go our way and 2022 was the opposite.

2021 had a veteran OL and Kenneth Walker transferred in and drew so much attention that it covered up a lot of warts. We had a good FG kicker that year, and probably the worst in CFB in 2022 (missed PATs, missed 20 yarder to become bowl eligible, etc.)

The defense sucked all 3 years, but by halftime of game 2 last year, we had lost our best player on the DL, at LB and in the secondary. No depth, and a lot more injuries, then suspension from the tunnel fight at UM…27 different starters on defense.

We haven’t lost a starter to the portal yet, but Keon Coleman is definitely shopping. The CB Brantley is coming back, the QB Thorne is gone because he doesn’t want an open competition in fall camp. Keon is the only proven playmaker on O.

The 2023 schedule has us playing 5 of the preseason top 14 teams, so it will be hard to regain momentum. Tuck didn’t replace any of the 3 coordinator positions, which is an eye opener. But, they are all on the final year of their deals, so it’s time to step up.

I could go on, but it’s too early to start drinking.

I HATE Auburn. FUCK!!!
I also hate Auburn, but I don't notice them much. 15-3 since 2006 makes them as irrelevant as GT to my Dawgs. In that same time span, Auburn is literally the equivalent of the 15-3 record that GT has versus my Dawgs. I got a dollar that says Bama loses to Auburn this year. Y'all are past due for another fuckup and you ain't got no QB.
