The new and improved Good Morning thread!

Good morning everyone. I am going to the VAMC today and am planning on pitching a minor fit. Been trying to get an eye exam and new glasses since December, involving my PCP and three admin types at the VAMC with no avail nor explanation. I will leave the VA with an appointment or on cash bail.

I have a nephew that has had some serious issues sleep, related to PTSD from multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. The quack fucking doctor told him he isnt sleeping well, because he isnt getting enough rest. He told her she is the reason guys are blowing their brains out in the parking lot.

The kid is such a solid guy, and just finished his paramedic for the Fire Dept in Ohio. He doesnt use it as an excuse, but needs help. Cant get it there. I always see all these ads for joining the military, and all the promotional shit they pay for, but they never take proper care of the ones that serve. How much better care could be taken if they took the ad money and put towards treatment? Maybe make a few less bombs, and planes. Like literally a few.

When I see all the outside programs, like Wounded Warrior Project, and others, I always think, "how the fuck is this a necessary thing?"

Fucking sad. Good luck dude.

I'm retired from the Navy. I've had to jump through some hoops sometimes to get the things I need, but I have zero complaints about the care that I or my family have received. Of course as a retiree the options available to me are different than those who served but didn't retire. I don't have to deal with the VA. It does hurt me to see fellow service members and brothers in arms suffering. Damn bureaucrats.

So far the VAMCs I've dealt with I have not had any problems. Guess it depends on the type of staff each one has.
Yeah, have heard some real horror stories for sure. OTOH, and I say this with all sincerity. How honest are some with describing their symptoms?
Some overdo it. And some because of pride/ego whatever they have a tendency to underdo it. Vets do have a problem with hardheadedness also.

And another otoh, the friggin gov hands out benefits of all type hand over fist to parasites and illegals all the while ignoring the people that made it possible to have those benefits.

Was this an MD or psychiatrist? What an incompetent doctor either way. Geez

I have little complaints about the caregivers. Of all the doctors I have had in B'ham, Tuscaloosa, Salem (Virginia) and Mountain Home, TN, only once have I really felt that a medical issue was just dismissed out of hand. The system is what sucks. It gave us one year waits for specialists, secret waiting lists, and other policies that prevented timely treatment. Plus, supplies like CPAP consumables were being sold out the back door and not going to vets for years without any accountability. It is hard to blame doctors for the understaffing and those bastards that oversaw it just keep climbing the bureaucratic ladder.

Also a retiree here and I've used the VA almost exclusively (even though I do have TriCare Select insurance) and I really don't have any complaints from any of my experiences around here. Even when I went through the local VSO to try and augment my disability status, once that paperwork was in to the VA, they made all my appointments with the proper folks in a timely manner and I was able to get into see those specialists (side note, the specialists cannot tell you anything about your test/evaluation results. That goes straight to the VA and they make their determination. My only complaint is that I had to see someone regarding PTSD and they sent those results to the VA and I was denied that particular claim, but that might be along the lines of what @LyquidMetal mentioned of me maybe underdoing things in my responses to the evaluation.....).
